After traveling with our three young kids (6, 3, 3) and experiencing the challenges of traveling firsthand, we were inspired to create Helm Haven, a luxurious Chesapeake Bay vacation home for 14 guests to delight both kids and grown-ups, ensuring everyone makes memories for a lifetime. Whether you are on a family vacation or a couple’s retreat, Helm Haven offers everything you need for an unforgettable getaway! Bedrooms: Experience the best of Chesapeake Bay views in our stunning home, featuring 3 King Bedrooms (two with their own private bath), 1 Queen Bedroom, and a fun-filled bunk room that accommodates six guests, with twin over twin bunks for two guests and full over full bunks for an additional four guests (no more than 250 lbs of combined weight on top bunk please). The maximum occupancy of the property is 14 guests. Please do not exceed this limit for safety reasons. Likewise, sleeping is limited to the beds provided, as couches are not intended for overnight use. Private Community Beach & Shark Tooth Hunting: Just a short stroll away, discover our private community beach on the Chesapeake Bay for endless bay adventures by kayak provided by us, shark tooth hunting, and swimming. For planning purposes, please note that there are stairs with about 20 steps that take you to the beach. The shallow waters near the shore provide an environment for you to play, wade, and splash without the strong currents and undertow that an ocean beach may have. We also have sandbars just offshore, which create natural pools where you can explore and observe marine life like crabs and small fish. On the beach, search for shark’s teeth from prehistoric sharks that lived in the Chesapeake Bay. * Guests should be aware that there are jellyfish in the Chesapeake Bay in the summer (typically July and August but can be as early as June and late as early September if it’s very hot and dry). They like warm, salty waters so their numbers vary with the rain and tides. Sometimes, there aren’t many jellyfish, depending on time of day or current, but other times there are a lot. And if it has recently rained, they get pushed out to sea and there are none. It is out of our control and really luck of the draw. We recommend to our guests to bring sting-protective sunscreen (available on Amazon) and long sleeve and swim pant swimwear. * Living Room & Kitchen (w/ complimentary coffee and tea): Inside, unwind in the spacious living and dining areas, complete with breathtaking bay views. The living room is outfitted with a huge couch and 65” television. The dining table seats 10 and the high chairs at the kitchen island fit another 4. The kitchen is fully stocked so that you can cook as much or as little as you like and a dishwasher so someone else can clean the plates! We provide a Keurig duo coffee machine plus complimentary tea and K cups. Game Room: Let your inner child roam free in our exciting game room, boasting arcade games of Pacman and NFL Blitz and air hockey, while overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. It also has rock climbing, swings, an egg chair, a spinning ship wheel, and a treasure trove of boat captain, pirate, and mermaid costumes for hours of imaginative play. Movie/Theater Room & Popcorn Machine: For movie nights, our cozy movie room awaits, complete with freshly made popcorn from our movie style popcorn machine. Meanwhile, friends can gather nearby for lively rounds of poker, board games, and puzzles at our game table. Outdoor Dining, Seating, Fire Pit, Games, & Kayaks: Savor the flavors of summer with a BBQ feast in our outdoor dining area featuring a Weber grill, followed by fireside chats around our inviting firepit. Don’t forget to explore the bay with our 3 complimentary kayaks (and life jackets) or enjoy a friendly competition with our outdoor games like Giant Jenga, cornhole, lawn darts, kan jam, and more. Children’s Amenities: We saw firsthand how challenging traveling with young kids can be so we offer two pack n plays (Joovy Room2 and Graco but please your own sheets), in addition to children’s plates and utensils, plasticware, cups, bibs, a highchair, keekaroo changing pad, white noise machine, 2 pack n plays, nonslip bathtub mat, baby hiking backpack, travel blackout curtain, books, toys, puzzles, coloring, youth and child sized life vests, toddler sized camping chairs for the beach, beach toys, first aid kit, and more so parents can enjoy their vacation as much as their kids do. Calvert County and Local Attractions: Blessed with miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline, Calvert County offers ample opportunities for water-based recreation, from sailing and fishing to kayaking and crabbing. Historic sites like Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum and Calvert Marine Museum (fantastic for kids!) provide glimpses into the region's past, while charming towns such as Solomons and North Beach beckon with their quaint shops, waterfront dining, and lively events. Whether exploring nature trails in Calvert Cliffs State Park or savoring fresh seafood along the Patuxent River, Calvert County captivates with its relaxed coastal atmosphere and warm hospitality. We gathered a few families for a week at the bay. The house was thrilling for our kids, between the bunk room, arcade games, treasure chest with costumes, and climbing wall—they stayed busy and happy when we weren’t down on be beach. The bedrooms and living areas were super comfortable and so well designed. Little luxuries like lovely bedding and cozy furniture made for a great vacation. The house is in the woods and very private, with a short walk to a beautiful, kid-friendly beach with lots of space. Julya was very proactive, helping to ensure we had everything we needed and more. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would enjoy coming again for an easy, joyful vacation.

This was our second year in a row visiting Julya’s place! Our family loved it so much last year we booked as soon as we could for this season. The house was just as beautiful as we remembered, the kids even said it felt like home the second day. All the thoughtful things included are so nice (blackout shades for the kids, all the kids kitchen stuff, extras for all usable items, beach items). And we love the location! Easy to get to activities, we very much enjoyed the marine museum, the Imaginarium, fishing on the shea-d-lady, and sailing with Sail Solomons. Island Hideway was huge hit with the whole family for dinner. The house is an easy walk to the beach and the view is so cool, feels like a beach treehouse. Will hopefully be back again next year (if not at the end of this season!) 😁 Thank you Julya!!

My family and I (13 adults, 1 child) had an AMAZING stay at Julya and Tommy's place. The house was spacious enough for everyone staying, there were enough bathrooms to comfortably use and the place was stocked with all the amenities we needed. The 3 minute walk to the beach was truly such a delight and a luxury for a family who doesn't really get down to the beach often. Everyone enjoyed the kayaks, the toddler enjoyed the kiddie pool and the rest of the family enjoyed the provided beach chairs and umbrellas. Honestly have nothing negative to say about our experience. The home was beautiful and wonderfully decorated. Thank you to both Julya and Tommy for their communication and how helpful they were during our stay. We would definitely come back again :)

The house was amazing. It worked great for a group of 9 of us (3 of which were little kids). The view from the house is gorgeous; the house is top notch; and all the extra features really made it feel like home. We left asking each other when we should come back. We would definitely stay again.

Was exactly what we needed! A wonderful house with so much to do inside and a super quick walk to the beach for endless shell hunting! Was relaxing enough for the adults and a ton of fun for the kids!

This house is something special. Four college girlfriends and seven kids spent 2 wonderful nights here. The house looks like the photos. Everything is labeled properly, they are fully stocked with all the paper products and kitchen stuff and cleaning stuff you can need, etc. The house is a dream for kids - ages 5-11, all enjoyed the swing, the movie room, the games, the arcade games and the air hockey table. It was a little cold for kayaks but we went to the private beach, which is an easy walk. One thing I never include in my rating, but which is nice to have, is the easy check out. No need to strip the beds, unload the clean dishes - it was nice to just put the towels on the floor and run the dishwasher before we left. We hope to stay again. Thank you!

We had a wonderful long weekend at this beautiful place. There were three families, with kids ranging in ages from 2-13, and the space and accommodations worked perfectly for all of us. The recreation spaces were an especially big hit. We enjoyed evenings on the porch with a fire, and spent time on the beach, which was beautiful. The hosts were proactive, professional, and responsive. We’d love to come back, especially in warmer weather. Thank you so much!
